Silver Lake is just 1/4 mile to the west of Dunetown Camp Resort. The Dune approach is approximately one mile to the north east. The Lighthouse and Lake Michigan Beach are about three miles.
Silver Lake Sand Dunes are divided into three sections. The far south is state owned and leased to Mac Woods Dune Rides. The middle section is for pedestrians only. The north end is the ORV (Off Road Vehicle) section.
The dunes are open daily from April 1st to Nov 1st — 9AM to Dusk
Yes. Many people drive across the dunes and park on the other side to enjoy the beaches of Lake Michigan.
It is required by the State to have a recreational passport, ORV Sticker, and a state trail permit. Also, it is required to have a 10ft. flag attached to the front of your vehicle. ATV operators are required to wear helmets. On weekends and holidays, it is required to purchase a Parking Voucher to reserve a space for those trailering ORV vehicles to enter the Dunes. It is not required on weekdays. For more information contact the State Park (231) 873-3083.
*As of 2015, Dune Ready Vehicles do not require vouchers at any time.
The only public beach on the east side of Silver Lake is located in the State Park. There is public access and boat ramps located all around the lake. The closest public access to Dunetown Camp Resort is 1/4 mile. There is no overnight docking available. The Sand Dunes that border the west side of the lake make for great beach and water fun.
Yes. Our outdoor pool is heated and maintained at 80 degrees at all times. We also have a KIDDIE POOL with a MUSHROOM FOUNTAIN.
Although pets are not permitted in rental units, your pets are welcome at your camping site. However, they may not be left in the park unattended and must be quiet and kept on a leash. Please clean up after them as well.
There must be a person who is 21 years of age or older present to take responsibility for the site/rental unit and the occupants.
Unless you have set up a special arrangement with us ahead of time, you will not be able to check in early. Campsites are typically booked back to back during our busy season (June-August), so the site will be occupied until 12:00pm (and then needs to be cleaned) on the day of your arrival.
